Photo, Video & Social Media Policy
At Life Church, we love to celebrate and share church life through photo, video and Social Media capture. We also respect that some people do not wish to appear in photos or videos. This policy explains how we manage photography and Social Media use in line with safeguarding best practice, GDPR, and respect for personal choice.
Consent & Permissions
Children & Young People (under 18): Photos/videos are only taken and used with the signed consent of a parent/guardian.
Opt-Out: Anyone who does not wish to appear in photos or videos may opt-out by completing an opt-out form on our website or by visiting reception before any service or event.
How Photos & Videos Will Be Used
Photos may be shared on Life Church Social Media accounts, the Life Church website and printed materials (e.g. posters, flyers). We never share images for commercial purposes and individuals are never named or tagged without explicit permission.
How Photos & Videos Will Be Taken
Our Media Team are responsible for capturing photos and video content at services and events. Signs are displayed when photography is taking place.
Data Protection & Security
All captured media is stored securely with access limited to authorised staff/volunteers and is kept for as long as necessary. Storage reviews are done regularly and requests to remove or delete any media are honoured promptly.
Social Media Guidelines
All our Social Media accounts are managed by our Creative Lead. All photos and videos are used sensitively; avoiding anything that could cause embarrassment, distress, or risk. No photos of children or young people are posted without prior parental consent.
Withdrawing Consent
When attending a service or an event at Life Church, consent is assumed for all adults unless an opt-out form is completed. If you haven’t previously opted-out but you appear in a photo/video and would like to be removed, please contact: info@lifelancs.org. We will respond promptly and ensure you are removed where possible.
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains compliant with safeguarding, GDPR, and best practice.
