Schools Pack 26/27

About us

Hi there, my name is Matt and I am the school’s worker for Life Church Lancashire. Alongside our church’s purpose & values, we are committed to serving our local high schools as we seek to be a blessing in our community. As well as myself, I am supported by a great team of volunteers (who have all been through the DBS process). They have all received training in youth work and safeguarding as part of their Safer Recruitment at Life Church.

We hope we can serve you and your school in the development of the spiritual, social, cultural and moral education of your students, by providing a bridge to other organisations in your community and by introducing positive Christian role models into the life of your school.

Our team are enthusiastic and excited about working with children and young people in a school and youth community setting. They can offer your school a different voice and help supplement the curriculum.

Our Volunteers go through our Safer Recruitment which includes a DBS check and regular Safeguarding Training.

What We Offer

  • Here are some ways we are able to be present in schools:

    • Lead Collective Worship assembly sessions. We can make the talks fun, interactive, interesting and challenging.

    • Serve within the RE curriculum. We can help to deliver specific lessons from a Christian point of view, serve within a teacher’s lesson or take part in Q&A’s.

    • Relational focused clubs. Either at lunch, break or after school, our team are willing to run clubs that create a safe and inclusive space for anyone of any faith or no faith to engage in a constructive activity that is also designed to have a religious or spiritual focus or activity.

    • Prayer Spaces in Schools. Our team can deliver Prayer Spaces in Schools: an excellent, inclusive activity helping students and staff of any faith or no faith to reflect, contemplate, pray, think and ask questions. You can read more at prayerspacesinschools.com

    • The Alpha Youth Course is one of the UK’s most popular ways to investigate the Christian faith. A specific version of the course has been created for young people to use. More information can be found at alpha.org

    • Seasonal opportunities. During particular festivals such as Harvest, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost,  we can help schools focus on the meanings of these different festivals and their relevance to their students and the wider community.

    • Church Experiences - a visit to our church building can show people how churches can look in different contexts.

    • We can contribute to your SMSC objectives and PSHE, Citizenship, Enrichment and Form time curriculums. They can speak on a range of moral issues from a Christian point of view, such as anti-bullying week, self-esteem, sex & relationships. This can be in the form of clubs, workshops or lessons.

    • Relational focused clubs [see section 1] these can be purely relational and activity based.

    • Our leaders can serve as mentors or coaches to specific students in the life of the school who may need extra input or support from outside sources.

  • Having a team in your community provides committed volunteers to serve local Church communities, young people and schools. If there is a way we can serve you, in a project where you need extra support or an activity not listed above, please let us know.
